SBA was the prime consultant for the mould remediation and phased retrofit of the 1965 Building ‘B’ at the Ministry of Transportation Complex.

The systematic mould remediation and office upgrades, including new electrical and mechanical systems, were completed using the 2nd floor as a swing space. By using the swing space approach, the ongoing daily work of both client groups, MTO and the Family Responsibility Office (FRO), could be maintained with minimal disruption to the work flow. As an active and highly confidential part of the Justice Ministry, the stringent requirements and guidelines of FRO had to be met by the consultants and contractors on a daily basis.

The building lobby and corridors were given a new face lift. All washrooms were upgraded to the most current accessibility standards. The basement, once a highly underused storage space, was converted into offices and an archive utilizing a high density mobile filing system.
